What's Actually Getting Fixed in Tank Squad 1.3.x

Ponyri new map incoming

The most useful bug tracking for Tank Squad doesn't happen in a changelog, it happens in the community Discord, in real time, between players who notice something's off and the developer working through why. Here's a look at three threads currently in progress.

Wreck Screens Don't Tell You Why You're Dead

Several players have flagged that the post-battle wreck/damage screen is going dark on them, no penetration data, no explanation, just a wreck. One player lost multiple Command Tigers in a row with nothing in the damage breakdown pointing to a cause; all logged damage showed as non-penetrating, and molotov/incendiary hits weren't showing up in the record at all.

For a sim whose whole appeal is granular penetration and damage modeling, an opaque death screen undercuts the mechanic it's supposed to showcase. The developer's response: a proper kill-cam is being added for explosive-based kills (bombs, AT grenades), with the same treatment planned for molotovs and critically, that data will actually get saved and surfaced on the wreck details page instead of vanishing.

AI Vision Through Bushes Regressed

A recurring complaint: in 1.2.x, AI view-blocking through bushes worked well, genuine concealment, real stalking play. In 1.3.x, several players report the AI now sees through bush cover noticeably better than the player does, effectively undoing that behaviour. There's also a suspicion that bush height reverted to older, shorter values from a build prior to 1.2.x.

The reports get specific: on one campaign mission, enemy armour that used to be able to sneakable but now spots the player instantly from position, and cresting a hill with only minimal exposure to an airfield draws immediate fire from every visible unit, behaviour that wasn't there in 1.2.x. The developer has acknowledged the issue and is asking for exact mission/map references to reproduce it, with procedural vs. hand-built maps flagged as a possible variable in why it's happening.

A Control Preset for Smaller Keyboards

A smaller, but telling, request: a player asked whether there's a control scheme preset suited to compact keyboards, since the defaults seem to assume a full-size layout. No such preset exists yet, but the developer is open to building one and is asking the community for other games' compact-keyboard control schemes to use as a reference point.

Why This Is Worth Watching

None of this is finished, it's bug triage in progress. But it's a useful window into how actively 1.3.x is still being shaped by what players actually run into, not just a fixed roadmap. Worth checking back on once these land in a patch.
