TvT_REDUX Patch 0.001 – Modern System Support & Script Overhaul

I’m pleased to announce the initial pre-release of TvT_REDUX Patch 0.001.

This patch marks a major milestone in my ongoing effort to bring T-34 vs Tiger up to modern standards. The focus of this release is stability, modern OS compatibility, improved Level of Detail behaviour, and a deep overhaul of legacy game scripts.

Patch 0.001 establishes a solid technical foundation on which future work can safely build.

Verification & Stability Testing

This build has gone through a two-stage verification process to ensure it behaves correctly on modern systems:

Stage 1

  • Confirmed that the new REDUX base build installs cleanly and runs correctly on a fresh game installation.

Stage 2

  • Applied Patch 0.001 to the REDUX base.

  • Successfully completed the first two missions on both German and Soviet sides with no crashes or progression issues.

Modern Operating System Support

  • Full integration of dgVoodoo (d3d9.dll, DDraw.dll) Not needed for age correct PC's

  • Designed for reliable operation on Windows 10 and Windows 11

Stability Improvements

  • Includes a 4GB-patched executable, strongly recommended for modern hardware

  • Helps prevent classic Out of Memory crashes common to the original release

Visual Enhancements

  • Improved LOD transition behaviour

  • Pre-configured 8× Anti-Aliasing for smoother visuals without user tweaking

Script Logic Overhaul

  • Extensive updates to Common, Units, and Menus scripts

  • Terrain logic corrections and improvements
    (special thanks to VaseMKIII for assistance in this area)

Media & Startup Cleanup

  • Updated sound files to stable .wav formats

  • Removal of original intro movies for a faster, cleaner launch

Installation Instructions

IMPORTANT: Back up your original game folder before proceeding, make sure your game is working without issues first.

  1. Extract
    Open the TvT_REDUX_v0.001.zip archive.

  2. Merge
    Drag all included folders (Missions, Resources, Scripts, etc.) into your main game directory.

  3. Overwrite
    When prompted, choose “Replace the files in the destination.”

  4. Configure Graphics
    Run dgVoodooCpl.exe first and configure it for your monitor and GPU.

  5. Launch the Game
    Use TvsT_fullLOD_HARD_4GB.exe for the intended full experience.

Developer Notes & Credits

  • If you encounter graphical artefacts or odd behaviour, run the included
    TvT_cacheDel.bat and restart the game.

  • This project has benefited from both community support and AI-assisted analysis.
